Inspired by Zadie Smith’s essay Joy, this motion project invites viewers to reflect on the tension between fleeting pleasure and lasting fulfillment.

The first half of the video centers on pleasure—quick, sensory moments like tasting food, hearing music, or receiving a stranger’s smile. These experiences feel vivid and fun, but they pass just as quickly as they arrive. The second half shifts to joy—a slower, more grounded emotion. A sunflower begins to grow, enduring wind and rain before eventually blooming. Joy is shown as something that takes time, care, and connection.

Through contrasting rhythms, colors, and pacing, the animation explores how these two emotional states can overlap, diverge, or quietly blur together—encouraging viewers to consider what it means to feel truly fulfilled.
